| Artist Biography | ||||||||
Pat O’Hara is a painter, retired teacher and advertising creative director. He completed his BFA at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, graduating in 1992, after 40 years in the advertising business. “Painting, like advertising, is communicating ideas in a fresh, clear, inventive way. To be successful they both demand concepts and executions that stick in a viewer’s memory.” O’Hara’s paintings, although representational, are less about subject matter and more about light and air flowing around the subject matter. “ The energy...the tension in space is what my paintings are really all about and what I hope people see, appreciate and remember.” O’Hara studied with Edgar and Elizabeth Rupprecht, Robert Skaggs, Phillip Hanson, James Krauss and currently studies with Bill Moll and Mark Palmari. He has taught TV advertising communications at the Internatioal Academy of Design, Chicago, and at National-Louis University. |
