After high school I spent 3 years in off- set printing with Krug Litho Art Co. in Kansas City….then 3 years in the army, one of these combat in Korea (1952). Back to Chicago after discharge (1953) and enrolled at the Art Institute of Chicago. Married Betty Grundhauser September 1954 in Kansas City. Graduated with honors from The School Of The Art Institute and started at Pres.-St.Lukes hospital as medical photographer.
Left there after 6 years and began 8 years with Root Photographers doing school photography. I began my solo career as a commercial photographer after leaving Root in 1970 doing PR ( some for Roosevelt University), architectural photography most
in connection with the Homebuilders Association and member builders, theatrical photography for Gold-Wilson Associates such as The Second City and The Ivanhoe theatre. I also was employed by the County of Cook producing election training films and more for vital statistics, etc.
Betty and I had 4 children…..Debbie, Rick, John and Erik., all of which have their own families now. We moved to Rockwell Ave. in 1967 and is where I am living now. We lost Betty to cancer in January of 1978.
I am now retired and am working in the fine arts…painting and drawing. Am a member of the Skokie Art Guild with which I have exhibited my work. At present am also a member of the North Shore Art League and am active with them. I attend figure drawing workshops sponsored by the Skokie Guild. Have traveled to places such as Florence,Venice, Vienna, Salzburg, Munich, Wurzburg, Paris, Provence, Madrid, Amsterdam, Brugges and to England. In the states; to California, Arizona and in the midwest. All these primarily to accumulate photographic material for painting. Keeps me busy. I have slowed a bit since my surgery in August of 06 but am staying in the game!
I have been selling my work professionally and am continuing to do so.
